Writing the Perfect Bio


Your biography or bio is an essential component that introduces you to the audience and showcases your expertise and achievements.  This can be used anytime you need to give information to a host if you could be a guest on one of their shows.   This is also critical when you are wanting to be a guest on someone else’s stage allowing you to talk to someone else’s audience.

The Importance of a Bio

A bio is going to be the first thing a potential host or a scheduler does in order for you to be a guest on their show or take part in being a guest on someone else’s stage.

This bio lets the host know who you are, what you do, and why you will be a perfect guest for their show.  This will aid in the questions they are going to ask and will allow them to know that you are a fit for their audience.

The Bio is one of the few items every speaker has in their media kit or press kit.   Another critical item is a speaker one sheet.

  • Passion and Vision: Express your passion for your business and the industry you operate in. Describe your long-term vision and goals for the business.
  • Accomplishments: Mention any notable accomplishments, awards, or recognition your business has received. This could include local or industry-specific accolades.
  • Success Stories: Share a few success stories or testimonials from satisfied customers to demonstrate the value your business brings.
  • Personal Story: Provide a brief glimpse into your personal journey as a business owner. People love to connect with personal stories, so share something that reflects your commitment and dedication to your business.
  • Community Involvement: If your business is involved in any charitable or community initiatives, mention them to show your commitment to giving back.
  • Social Media and Website: Include links to your business’s website and social media profiles. This allows viewers to learn more about your business and follow you for updates.
  • Call-to-Action: End your bio with a call-to-action, encouraging viewers to support your business, visit your website, or follow you on social media.


Keep your bio concise and engaging, making sure it aligns with the theme or purpose of the show. It’s also a good idea to tailor the content to the show’s audience and format.
